Life from ICU 18....

Mama sleeping... And our view for a week

It's been a while since I've written a blog post, so much for the structure aspect - Sometimes life throws you a curveball.

I always write here about the fun goings on in life - Life is one big celebration (at least that's how I like to think of it) I've learned though when it gets rough is when you learn the biggest lessons.

For those that aren't aware, my mom had a pretty bad accident on Monday morning. She was out walking the dogs by their house on Sunrise Blvd when a jogger passed by too close to her and the dog, protecting her, lunged forward which she wasn't expecting and she fell and hit her head on the sidewalk.

There were quite a few good samaritans that must have pulled over (for those who are familiar with the area she fell close to Best Buy) When she fell, she let go of the leash and the dog ran home. One of those amazing good samaritans followed the dog home which is the way my dad found out she fell.

She went by ambulance to Westside Regional and we've been here since. She had to have emergency surgery to remove a blood clot the size of your hand. The surgery was a success and she's expected to make a full recovery, it will just take time.

This whole experience has made me realize a lot of things. Most of all the enormous support system we have around us. Thank you so much for all of you contacting us to check how she's doing. Feeling the support is really getting us through this.

*** An Update, I originally wrote the above on Saturday morning and lost track of time to publish, but I am SO happy to report that she has made the most amazing turnaround in the last 48 hours or so. We've moved up to a regular room and she's feeling more herself and is making strides... We couldn't be happier!

Thank you again, we couldn't make it through this without all the love. Love you all!

  2. Tara,
I had no idea until I saw this post. Happy to read you have such an amazing group of friends supporting you. Even happier to read your Mom is doing better now. Let's hope she recovers quickly.
